IRVING, Texas --- Record-setting Texas A&M defensive lineman Jacob Green is included on the 2018 College Football Hall of Fame Ballot, the National Football Foundation (NFF) and College Football Hall of Fame announced on Thursday.
Green, who lettered for the Aggies from 1977-79, was among 75 players and six coaches from the Football Bowl Subdivision and 98 players and 31 coaches from the divisional ranks on the 2018 ballot.
Green earned first-team All-America honors in 1978 and 1979 as one of the Southwest Conference's most feared pass rushers. Green still owns the single season record with 20 quarterback sacks in 1979 and the career record with 12 forced fumbles. His 37 career QB sacks stood as a school record for a decade and still ranks No. 2 in the school annals.
Green, who went on to a long and productive career with the Seattle Seahawks in the NFL, is member of the Texas Sports Hall of Fame (2015) and the Southwest Conference Hall of Fame (2014), as well as the Texas A&M Athletic Hall of Fame. Additionally, he was named a Southeastern Conference Football Legend (2014) and was honored at the 2014 SEC Football Championship Game in Atlanta, Ga.
Green currently is a vice president for major gifts and endowments for the 12th Man Foundation.
