NEW ORLEANS – Updated national rankings from U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association still have the Texas A&M man at No. 3 while the Aggie women moved up one position to No. 6 following performances at the Razorback Invitational.
Meanwhile, indoor dual meet rankings by Track & Field News still have Texas A&M ranked No. 1 for both the men and women.
Jazmine Fray currently leads the collegiate list in the 800m with her 2:02.30. Aggie men ranked among the top five this season include Mylik Kerley (46.10) and Robert Grant (46.22), third and fifth in the 400m; the men's 4x400 (3:03.95) ranks second; the men's distance medley relay (9:39.78) ranks fifth; Jacob Wooten (18-3) and Audie Wyatt (18-1 ¼), fourth and fifth in the pole vault; Will Williams (25-9 ¼) fourth in the long jump.
Other Aggie women among the top 10 this season include the 4x400 relay (3:32.61) and distance medley relay (11:12.06) both ranking fourth; Lajarvia Brown (43-8) and Ciynamon Stevenson (43-2 ½), sixth and ninth in the triple jump; and Tyra Gittens (4,009) ranks ninth in the pentathlon.
This week the Aggies host the Charlie Thomas Invitational on Friday and Saturday, February 2-3. Visiting teams include Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Houston, Rice, South Plains, TCU, Texas Arlington and UTSA.
On February 24-25, Texas A&M will host the SEC Indoor Championships. Currently there are 11 women's schools and seven men's schools from the SEC among the top 25 nationally ranked teams.
