Texas A&M’s Lisa Bratton named SEC female Scholar-Athlete of the Year for Swimming & Diving

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M's Lisa Bratton was named the 2018 female Scholar-Athlete of the Year for swimming and diving by the Southeastern Conference, Commissioner Greg Sankey announced on Day 4 of the 2018 SEC Swimming and Diving Championships.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M's Lisa Bratton was named the 2018 female Scholar-Athlete of the Year for swimming and diving by the Southeastern Conference, Commissioner Greg Sankey announced on Day 4 of the 2018 SEC Swimming and Diving Championships.
 
Bratton, from Richland, Wash., is a senior majoring in ocean engineering with a 3.71 grade point average. She is a member of the SEC Honor Roll, the Texas A&M AD Honor Roll and the College Swim Coaches Academic team. Bratton is the Vice President of Omega Epsilon, which is the Ocean Engineering Honor Society. A two-time team captain, she is a 10-time All-American and a four-time SEC Champion. Bratton owns a school record in the 200 backstroke and with the 400 medley relay.

2018 SEC Swimming & Diving Scholar-Athletes of the Year Announced
 
 
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Southeastern Conference announced the 2018 Swimming & Diving Scholar-Athletes of the Year in conjunction with the 2018 SEC Swimming & Diving Championships.
 
Luke Kaliszak of Alabama was chosen as the 2018 SEC Men's Swimming & Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Kaliszak is a senior majoring in pre-med with a 3.975 grade point average. A 2017-18 men's team captain, he was named a 2017 First-Team CoSIDA Academic All-American. Kaliszak is a 2016 NCAA 200 medley relay champion and a 2017 NCAA 200 medley relay runner-up. He is also a three-time top-5 NCAA finisher in the 200 freestyle relay. A 10-time All-American, Kaliszak is the Alabama record holder in the 100 butterfly and as part of the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. He is ranked second all-time at Alabama in the 100 backstroke with a 44.91. Kaliszak recorded a career-best fourth-place finish in the 100 backstroke at the 2017 NCAA Championships and a career-best fifth-place finish in the 100 butterfly at the 2016 NCAA Championships. A member of the All-SEC Team, he was a 2015 SEC Champion in the 200 freestyle relay.
