COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M's Patrick Kypson was named the SEC Freshman of the Week for the second time this spring after the Aggies picked up wins against No. 25 Tennessee and Alabama last weekend. The freshman earned a top-20 singles win and a pair of doubles victories to earn the honor.
Â
Kypson helped the Aggies remain perfect at 6-0 in SEC action and tied atop the league standings with No. 12 Mississippi State (12-1, 6-0). The Raleigh, N.C. native, topped No. 16 Timo Stodder of Tennessee to earn his sixth ranked win of the spring and second over a top-20 opponent. Kypson was the first singles match off the court to help the Aggies race out to an early 2-0 advantage to help secure the pivotal road win against the Volunteers.
Â
In doubles action, Kypson picked up a pair of wins alongside senior Arthur Rinderknech. The A&M duo topped No. 71 Thibault Cancel and Alexey Nesterov of Alabama to earn his second ranked doubles win of the year.
Â
In addition to Kypson's pair of Freshman of the Week honors, classmate Juan Carlos Aguilar has garnered the award twice this spring. The four commendations for the Aggies lead the league as Florida has been tipped three times, while Arkansas and Vanderbilt have garnered recognition once each.
Â
Texas A&M returns to the road for their final time in the regular season, taking on Vanderbilt in Nashville on March 30 and Kentucky in Lexington on April 1.
