For the second consecutive week, Texas A&M senior Maddie Szeryk earned SEC Women's Golfer of the Week honors, as announced by the league Wednesday. Szeryk won her second consecutive tournament, shooting a 2-over 212 to win the Dale McNamara Invitational at Tulsa Country Club by two strokes.
The weekly honor is the fifth of Szeryk's career, the most of any golfer in program history. She notched her fourth career tournament win, which ties for the second-most in Texas A&M history, helping the Aggies to a second-place finish as a team with a final score of 870. She is the first Aggie since Marijosse Navarro in 2015 to win back-to-back tournaments.
Szeryk is on pace to break her own single-season school record with a 71.00 stroke average this season, and has finished 15th-or-better in every tournament. She has five first-or-second place finishes in 11 events this season.
Szeryk and the Aggies returns to the course at the SEC Championship, which runs from April 18-22 at Greystone Golf and Country Club in Hoover, Ala. The new format for 2018 includes three rounds of match play to determine a team champion.
