COLLEGE STATION, Texas –Texas A&M's Chandler Phillips moved up to No. 8 on the watch list for the prestigious Haskins Award presented by Stifel, which is given annually to the best college golfer, as voted by players, coaches and media.

In the midst of another banner season for the Maroon & White, Phillips recently claimed his fifth career tournament win, sharing top individual honors alongside teammate Walker Lee at the 2018 Aggie Invitational. Phillips currently maintains a 70.60 stroke average, which is on pace to be the lowest for a single season in program history, a distinction he already holds after posting a 71.15 average last season.

The Huntsville, Texas native set school records during an All-American campaign a year ago with 29 rounds of par or lower and a 71.15 stroke average. This season, Phillips has earned medalist honors at the Badger Invitational and John Burns Intercollegiate along with last week's win at the Aggie Invitational. The five career victories is tied for the school record for tournament wins alongside former A&M standout Anthony Rodriguez (1991-95).

Outside of his accomplishments at Texas A&M, Phillips was recently chosen to represent the United States at the Palmer Cup for the second consecutive year. Last summer, Phillips helped the Americans defeat the International squad at Atlanta Athletic Club in Johns Creek, Ga. The 2018 Palmer Cup will be played across the Atlantic at the Evian Resort Golf Club in Évian-les-Bains, France.

The Aggies are currently ranked No. 2 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings, Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll and the Golfstat.com Team Rankings. Phillips and his Texas A&M teammates return to the course Apr. 26- 29 when they travel to St. Simons Island, Ga., to take on the SEC Championship at Sea Island Golf Club.
