HOOVER, Ala.- Texas A&M women's golf team shot a 312 in the first round of the 2018 SEC Women's Golf Championship at Greystone Golf and Country Club.
The Aggies, sit in 12th place at 24-over par and are six strokes off the cut to reach match play. Alabama leads the tournament with a 2-under 286.
Maddie Szeryk is tied for 13th by shooting a 2-over 74 on the par 72 / 6,253 yard Legacy Course. Amber Park shot a 5-over 77, to tie for 32nd. Ariana Saenz battled back from a six-over start in the first four holes to play her last 14 at just 2-over, shooting a 8-over 80 for the day and tying for 52nd entering the second round. Courtney Dow shot a 9-over 81 to tie for 60th and Chloe Velasco shot a 10-over 82 to sit in a tie for 66th.
The top eight teams after three rounds of stroke play reach the quarterfinals of the event, which is contested in match-play format for the first time this season.
The SEC Championship continues with the Aggies teeing off in the second of three rounds of stroke play at 9:10 a.m. Thursday.
