WACO – Baylor's Michael Johnson Invitational is the next destination for Texas A&M during the Aggies outdoor season as they compete on Saturday at the Clyde Hart Track & Field Stadium.
Â
With the Texas A&M men and women each ranked No. 3 nationally, the teams they are scheduled to compete against in the Invitational include Abilene Christian, Arkansas (men), Baylor, Iowa State, Northern Illinois (women), Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Stephen F. Austin, Texas, and Texas Tech.
Â
"This is another meet where we give a lot of our team an opportunity to compete," noted Texas A&M head coach Pat Henry. "We're getting close to the time of the season where we get down to a smaller number that will represent us in the conference meet. We're trying to figure out who some of those people are.
Â
"While we are putting a lot of people on the track in a lot of events, we are not over doing it with anyone. We'll see some good competition in this meet and we always tend to get some good things done when we compete at Baylor."
Â
In the latest national team computer rankings from USTFCCCA, the other top 25 teams involved in the Michael Johnson Invitational include No. 2 Texas Tech, No. 11 Arkansas, No. 21 Baylor and No. 22 Texas on the men's side as well as No. 9 Texas and No. 25 Texas Tech on the women's side.
Â
Field events begin at 9 a.m. with the men's hammer and women's javelin. An afternoon running session starts at 1 p.m. while an evening running session begins at 5 p.m. Coverage of the meet will be available through a subscription service at www.flotrack.org while results will be available at www.deltatiming.com.

Texas A&M track & field official J. Doehring memorial service to be held Saturday
Â
Sweeney J. Doehring, a member of the Texas A&M Track & Field Officials Association and a former track and field manager with the Aggies from 1979 to 1982 passed away on Friday, April 13. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 21 in Katy, Texas, in the sanctuary of Holy Covenant United Methodist Church.
Â
Serving as a throws official in track and field meets, J. Doehring was truly emblematic of "The Aggie Spirit." While he had passion for all Aggie athletics, he had a special love for the track and field program.
Â
The family will have a Celebration of his life on Saturday as it will coincide with Aggie Muster. If you plan to attend the Celebration, the Doehring's would like to insist that you not dress "up" but instead dress out in your best Texas A&M gear.
Â
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider making a contribution to one of the two following organizations that were important to J – the Texas A&M Ring Scholarship Endowment or Mountain T.O.P (Tennessee Outreach Project).
Â
An endowment has been established in hopes of raising funds for an annual Aggie Ring Scholarship in J's memory. Gifts can be made online at Association of Former Students (https://www.aggienetwork.com/give/memorialgiving/)
Â
Donations can be made to the general fund of Mountain T.O.P. in J's memory at https://mountain-top.networkforgood.com/
