Aggies Celebrate 2017-18 Season at Annual Banquet

COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M equestrian team celebrated its NCEA Reining National Championship and 2017-18 season at its annual banquet Friday at the All-American Club in Kyle Field.

COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M equestrian team celebrated its NCEA Reining National Championship and 2017-18 season at its annual banquet Friday at the All-American Club in Kyle Field.
 
Head coach Tana McKay and staff honored those who earned academic and athletic achievements throughout the year, while members of the team voted on the yearly awards.
 
Madison Malsch and Courtney Yohey were presented with the Aggie Heart Award, which is given to the team member that best exemplifies what it means to be an Aggie, always puts the team's needs ahead of her own, while setting a positive example both in and out of the arena, and strives to push others to be the best.
 
Rachael Hake was named the Most Outstanding Player (MOP) in Equitation over Fences after finishing the campaign with a team-best 16-4-1 record. Hake went 3-1 at the NCEA Championships and won 11 of her last 13 points. The Washington, Mich., native was also awarded the MOP in Equitation on the Flat. Hake compiled an 11-8-3 record with a team-high four MOPs.
 
MOP in Horsemanship was given to Avery Ellis, who recorded 14 wins, four MOPs, and was named the SEC's Co-Horsemanship Rider of the Year.
 
Caroline Dance was awarded the Hunt Seat Rookie of the Year and Alex Albright was named the Western Rookie of the Year. Dance registered 14 wins, three MOPs and was named the SEC's Co-Freshman Fences Rider of the Year. Albright recorded nine wins with an MOP, went 1-0 at the SEC Championship and recorded two wins at the NCEA Championships.
 
Madison Bohman was bestowed with the MOP in Reining following an 11-win season with three MOPs. Bohman closed out the season with two wins in the Reining national championship, including a 144.5-137.5 victory over Auburn's Betsy Brown in the final.
 
The Iron Horse Award was presented to Alex Marlow, which is given to the team member who has shown the most dedication and improvement in the weight room.
