COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M junior right-hander Nolan Hoffman was tabbed as one of the top relief pitchers in the nation, getting named to the Midseason Watch List for the 14th Annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award, the NCBWA announced Thursday.
The NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award is given annually to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I Baseball.
The Lincoln, Nebraska, native is 4-1 with seven saves on the season, posting a 0.99 ERA, .229 opponent batting average and 40 strikeouts in 36.1 innings. In SEC play, Hoffman has 10 appearances, going 1-1 with two saves and a 2.16 ERA.
Hoffman was one of 41 players named to the list, which included 12 holdovers from the preseason watch list. The SEC and ACC each had four pitchers on the list.
Texas A&M returns to action Friday evening when they begin a road series against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
