COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Following the No. 5 Texas A&M Men's Tennis National Semifinal appearance, four players and assistant coach Kevin O'Shea garnered prestigious awards this week from the ITA and NCAA. O'Shea, Arthur Rinderknech and Patrick Kypson earned ITA Texas Regional Awards while Jordi Arconada and Juan Carlos Aguilar were named to the NCAA All-Tournament team.

O'Shea was named the Texas region tasc Performance ITA Assistant Coach of the Year after helping lead the Aggies to the 2018 SEC Championship, completing their first undefeated conference season since 2001. Additionally four Aggies earned All-American honors so far this season (Rinderknech & Kypson in singles and Aguilar & Arconada in doubles). The Maroon & White were the highest ranked team from the Texas region in every poll this spring.

Rinderknech was named the Texas region ITA Senior Player of the Year, the Frenchman was the highest ranked senior in the Texas Region and second highest ranked player in the region overall. Ranked No. 52 in doubles after earning a 7-3 record with Kypson, including a 3-2 mark against ranked opponents. Rinderknech became Texas A&M's first three-time singles All-American after earning a national seed to the upcoming NCAA Singles Championship. Finished the season with a 22-5 dual record, including a 10-2 tally against the SEC. Played every match on the top two lines (4-0 at one, 18-5 at two). Owns a 13-4 record against ranked opponents, the 13 ranked wins matches Kypson for the most by an SEC player this spring. Finished his career in 10th on Texas A&M's all-time dual singles victories list (67), 11th on the all-time doubles list (64) and 10th on the all-time combined list (131).

Kypson was named the Texas region ITA Rookie of the Year after playing all of his matches on the top court, collecting 16 wins and matching Rinderknech for the team and league best 13 against ranked opponents this spring. The Raleigh, N.C. native was the only freshman in the SEC to play all of his matches on the top court. The right-hander earned an impressive 8-3 record against SEC opponents, including seven wins over ranked SEC opponents. Kypson earned his highest ranked win of the season in the SEC Tournament Championship against SEC Player of the Year and No. 2 ranked Nuno Borges of Mississippi State in straight sets. Picked up 13 doubles victories including four against ranked foes, ranked alongside Rinderknech at No. 52 in the latest ITA rankings. Skyrocketed up the singles rankings this spring, going from unranked to the top-10 for the final four polls. Earned the No. 5 seed in the NCAA Singles Championship to solidify his All-American status as a freshman.

No. 48 Jordi Arconada was named to the NCAA All-Tournament on court three. The senior was a perfect 4-0 in the NCAA Tournament including a 3-0 mark against ranked foes, including an impressive three-set triumph over No. 38 Skander Mansouri of national champion Wake Forest in the national semifinal. Arconada completed one of the most impressive dual seasons in program history on a nine-match win streak. The Buenos Aires native claimed 25 dual wins this year, the second most in a single season in program history, and 67 career wins, the 10th most by an Aggie all-time.

Aguilar earned the All-Tournament team nod on court five after going 2-1 in the tournament including picking up a must-needed point to even the team match at three-all against No. 1 Wake Forest. The La Paz, Bolivia native evened the national semifinal match at three-all with an impressive 7-6(6), 6-3 win on court five over Alan Gadjiev. Aguilar finished the season 22-5 in dual matches and 29-8 overall. The 22 dual wins matched a group of Aggies for the 12th most in a single season at Texas A&M.

While the historic team season has come to a close, a trio of singles players and a doubles team will feature in the upcoming NCAA Individual Championships. Kypson and Rinderknech earned national seeds, while Arconada will compete in both the singles and doubles bracket. Arconada will partner with Aguilar as the No. 3 national seed in the doubles draw.
