COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M right-handed pitcher Mitchell Kilkenny was selected by the Colorado Rockies in Round 2C of the 2018 MLB Draft with the 76th overall pick Monday evening.

The Houston native started 16 games on the mound in 2018. He owned an 8-5 record with a 3.34 ERA and 92 strikeouts in 97.0 innings. He was named SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week following a complete-game effort against LSU and earned Midseason All-American honors from Perfect Game/Rawlings.

For his career, Kilkenny is 13-8 with a 3.19 ERA, seven saves and 177 strikeouts in 180.1 innings of work.

In 2017, he pitched in 26 games, including five starts. He led the Aggies with seven saves and posted a 3-3 record with 56 strikeouts in 56.1 innings. He sealed a place in Aggie lore throwing 5.2 innings of shutout relief ball against Davidson in game one of the Super Regional, scattering six hits and one walk while striking out nine.

As a freshman in 2016, he appeared in 15 games with one start, logging a 2-0 record with 29 strikeouts in 27.0 innings. The summer of 2016 he named the Northwoods League's top prospect by Baseball America

The draft continues on Tuesday and Wednesday for rounds 3-40 with as many as 1,214 players being selected in the three-day event.
