Aggie Softball Announces Annual Team Awards

COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M softball announced its annual team award winners following the 2018 campaign in which the Aggies finished the season 44-18 and advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals for seventh time in program history.

COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M softball announced its annual team award winners following the 2018 campaign in which the Aggies finished the season 44-18 and advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals for seventh time in program history. 
 
Tori Vidales was named the team's Most Valuable Player. The senior hit .350 on the season and topped the team in runs scored (44), home runs (14), RBI (62), slugging (.628), on-base (.456) and walks (34). The SEC All-Defensive Team first baseman held a .990 fielding percentage, recording 385 putouts and 25 assists with just four errors.
 
The La Porte, Texas, native earned NFCA All-America honors for the second time of her career and became the ninth Aggie to earn multiple All-America accolades.
 
Vidales also garnered the Academic Excellence Award, which is given to the student-athlete with the highest average GPA from the fall and spring semesters from the season. Vidales earned a 3.947 GPA in the 2017-18 academic year and graduated with a degree in Ag Communications and Journalism.
 
Riley Sartain was recognized by her teammates as she was bestowed the Most Inspirational Award. A tireless worker on and off the field, Sartain was a staple at third base, starting in 58 games. The junior from Aledo, Texas, was second on the team in home runs (11) and RBI (36). Defensively, Sartain held a .978 fielding percentage with 53 putouts and 122 assists.
