COLLEGE STATION – Former Texas A&M All-American Shane Vinsant has been named the volunteer coach for the Aggie men's tennis team, head coach Steve Denton announced.

"First of all, we owe a debt of gratitude to the great job Rick Meyers did as our volunteer coach over the last two years," Denton said. "Having said that, we are super excited in welcoming Aggie great Shane Vinsant to our coaching staff. Our volunteer coach has always played an integral part of our success for our men's program and Kevin and I are very confident that Shane will do a great job."

Vinsant earned All-American honors in doubles as a junior in 2015 and in singles following his 2014 sophomore campaign. The Keller, Texas native was No. 19 in the junior world rankings and helped the Aggie men win two Southeastern Conference tournament championships (2014, 2015) and the 2014 regular season championship, as well as the 2013 SEC Western Division title in Texas A&M's inaugural season in the league. The Aggies advanced to the NCAA Championship every year of his career, reaching the Elite Eight for the second time in program history in 2015 and finishing the season with a then program-best No. 5 ranking in the final Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll.

Vinsant posted a 99-48 singles record while leading the Maroon and White to a 95-35 team record from 2013-16. He earned All-SEC accolades all four years and was a two-time participant in the NCAA Singles Championship. Vinsant posted a 98-52 career record in doubles and earned All-America honors with partner Harrison Adams in 2015 as the duo finished No. 10 in the final ITA doubles rankings.

Following his graduation from A&M in 2016 with a degree in finance, Vinsant played on the professional circuit. He won two doubles titles and made a singles final and reached a career-high No. 657 ranking on the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) world singles tour and No. 637 on the ATP world doubles tour.

Vinsant spent the 2018 season serving in the same role for the women's team, helping guide the Aggies to an impressive 13-2 home record and the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
