COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The 2019 edition of Texas A&M Baseball had its first team gathering Saturday morning as the Aggies completed the 13th Annual Paint-A-Thon. In what has become the yearly harbinger for the upcoming school year, the team descended on the home of Ms. Marvelet Williams in Bryan.
The Aggies' crew of approximately 50, including all players, the coaching staff and various members of the support staff, painted the exterior of the home, performed basic outdoor maintenance and landscaped the yard at Williams' residence.
"We want to send a message to our players that we're going to work for everything we get here at Texas A&M Baseball," head coach Rob Childress said. "The guys answered the bell at 7 a.m., and came out here to do great things in the community. We want to make a positive impact, not only on the field and in the classroom, but in community."
Coach Childress instituted the Paint-A-Thon in 2006 and it is now annually the first team activity of the school year. The Paint-a-Thon has brought the Aggies to eight homes in College Station and five in Bryan during the last 13 years.
"This is our first time we're kind of together as a team," junior Hunter Coleman said. "It's cool to see some new faces, work together and build some chemistry. It's a great opportunity for servantship."
