Aggie men third, women fifth in NCAA South Central Region preseason rankings

Initial preseason region rankings for the 2018 cross country season were released by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) today along with the SEC cross country coaches' preseason poll.

Texas A&M men are ranked third in the NCAA South Central Region with the Aggie women ranked fifth. Both programs are predicted to finish sixth in the SEC conference.
 
The men's NCAA South Central region rankings include Arkansas at No. 1 followed by Texas, Texas A&M, UT Arlington, McNeese State, Rice, Texas State, Lamar, Incarnate Word and North Texas among the top 10.
 
Arkansas also leads the women's rankings in the NCAA South Central region followed by Texas, SMU, Baylor, Texas A&M, TCU, Arkansas State, Texas State, Lamar and LSU.
 
The Aggies will host the NCAA South Central Regional on Friday, November 9 on the Dale Watts Cross Country course.
 
With SEC coaches voting it was predicted Alabama would win the men's conference title along with the Arkansas women. Ten first place votes went to Alabama along with a pair for the Razorback men. The Arkansas women, who have won five consecutive SEC cross country titles, received 13 first place votes while one went to Georgia.
 
Following Alabama, predictions for the SEC men were Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Kentucky among the top five. Florida and Texas A&M were tied for sixth and followed by Georgia, Missouri, Auburn, Vanderbilt and LSU.
 
Behind Arkansas predictions for the SEC women included Georgia, Mississippi, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt among the top five. Texas A&M is sixth ahead of Alabama, Florida, Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky, Auburn, South Carolina, and LSU.
 
The SEC Championships will be held on Friday, October 26 in Auburn, Alabama.
