COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M Aggies will open the 2019 baseball season with a three-game series against the Fordham Rams, head coach Rob Childress announced Monday.
The Aggies and Rams will battle February 15-17 on Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park. Friday's game time is 6:30 p.m. with Saturday slated for 1 p.m. and the finale booked for noon on Sunday. Texas A&M has won its last 10 season-opening series, including nine sweeps.
Fordham is the NCAA Division I all-time leader in victories with 4,479. There is no other team within 900 wins of the Rams. Texas A&M opens the 2019 season ranked No. 12 all-time in victories among NCAA Division I squads with 2,695.
Fordham is coming off a successful 2018 campaign. The Rams finished 35-19-1 overall and placed second in the Atlantic 10 Conference with a 16-8 mark. Notable former Fordham baseball players include Hall of Famer Frankie Frisch, 14-year Major Leaguer Pete Harnisch and Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully.
Texas A&M returns finished the 2018 campaign with a 40-22 mark, making their 34th NCAA Championship appearance overall and their 12th in a row. The Aggies' return 17 letterwinners and six starting position players for the 2019 season.
