COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M forward Ásdís Halldórsdóttir was tabbed the SEC Freshman of the Week for soccer, the league announced Tuesday.

Halldórsdóttir, a rookie from Iceland, logged a goal and an assist as the Aggies went 2-0 on the weekend, including a 4-0 blanking of No. 9 Santa Clara on Sunday.

Against Oklahoma on Friday, Halldórsdóttir put her head on a corner kick offering. The Sooners' keeper made a self-preservation save, but Grace Piper put the carom home for the equalizer, giving Halldórsdóttir the assist. Two days later, she scored her first career Aggie goal midway through the second half to give the Maroon & White a 2-0 lead against Santa Clara.

On the season, Halldórsdóttir has four points on one goal and two assists. She has played in all six games, including four starts.

The Reykjavik native has participated in international competitions for the Iceland women's national teams since 2016. Halldórsdóttir's international tournament experience includes the UEFA U19 Championship in 2017 and '18 and the UEFA U17 Championship in 2016. She has 13 caps for Icelandic squads, tallying three goals, all at the 2017 UEFA U19 Championship.

Halldórsdóttir is one of 10 players who have logged goals in the first six games for the high-octane A&M offense. With a 6-0-0 record, the Maroon & White are off to their best start since 1999.

The Aggies return to action Friday when they host the Colorado College Tigers in an 8 p.m. contest at Ellis Field.
