COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Former Arizona State and Baylor women's tennis player Kelley Anderson has been named a volunteer assistant coach for the Texas A&M women's tennis team, Aggie head coach Mark Weaver announced.
Â
"Bringing a player of Kelley's caliber on board our coaching staff is a great addition to our program," Weaver said. "Kelley has an incredible work ethic and will be an excellent example in all areas involved in being a student-athlete. Kelley, having just finished competing at a very high level of college tennis, will undoubtedly bring an abundance of valuable experiences to share with our young group of Aggies."
Â
Anderson, from Roanoke, Texas, played her first two seasons at Baylor, where as a freshman she went 27-10 in singles and 20-10 in doubles to help the Bears win the 2015 Big 12 Conference regular-season championship. She was named Big 12 Championship Most Outstanding Performer at the 2015 Big 12 Conference tournament after going a combined 4-0 in singles and doubles as the Bears also captured the league's postseason title and earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
Â
Anderson transferred to Arizona State for her junior season and reached a career-high No. 70 ranking in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's singles rankings. She finished the season 24-9 in singles and 18-8 in doubles. She went 5-4 in singles during her senior fall campaign, but she did not compete in the spring.
Â
A two-time district MVP at Southlake Carroll Senior High School, Anderson was a five-star recruit by Tennis Recruiting Network. She was the state 5A singles runner-up as a freshman and placed third as a senior. She also placed third in state in mixed doubles as a sophomore.
Â
Anderson is a 2018 graduate from Arizona State with a degree in communication.
Â
A&M opens the fall slate at the Big 5 Challenge at TCU on Sept. 20-23.
