Texas A&M to Compete at SMU Invitational

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Aggie sophomores Tatiana Makarova and Iulia Ivascu will represent Texas A&M at the SMU Invitational this weekend in Dallas. Matches will be played on both the indoor and outdoor courts at the SMU Tennis Complex, Turpin Stadium & Brookshire Family Pavilion.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Aggie sophomores Tatiana Makarova and Iulia Ivascu will represent Texas A&M at the SMU Invitational this weekend in Dallas. Matches will be played on both the indoor and outdoor courts at the SMU Tennis Complex, Turpin Stadium & Brookshire Family Pavilion.
 
"This will be the opening tournament for both Iulia and Tatiana for the fall season, and it will be a great opportunity for both of them to get in three quality singles matches and three quality doubles matches," Texas A&M head coach Mark Weaver said. "Coach [Jordan] Szabo and I are looking forward to seeing them compete and perform over the course of the three-day event."
 
Play begins Friday with Makarova and Ivascu taking on Autumn Crossnoe and Allison Stewart of Abilene Christian at 11 a.m. in the first round of the eight-team No. 2 doubles draw. Singles matches follow, with Makarova facing Karina Traxler (unattached), Friday at 1 p.m. in the eight-player No. 1 singles draw. Ivascu opens singles play against Damira Muminovic of Georgia State on Friday at 1 p.m. in the No. 3 singles draw.
 
Players are slated to play one singles match and one doubles match every day, with the tournament concluding Sunday with the championship matches for each draw.
