Men’s Golf Faces Tough Test At Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate

ALPHARETTA, GA. - The No. 6 Texas A&M men's golf team looks to continue their success in the last tournament of the fall season this week at The Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate Invitational, with tee times beginning at 8:25 a.m. CT on Friday.
"This is our last tournament of the fall season and we want to enter the break on a high note," head coach JT Higgins said. "This tournament is a mainstay on our schedule, and one of the very best of the year with a tremendous field on a terrific golf course. It is a great opportunity to see where we stack up against the best in the country right now, while continuing to build on the successes we have had so far."
The 54-hole event takes place over three days at The Golf Club of Georgia, which plays at par 72 and 7017 yards for the tournament. The Georgia Collegiate Invitational features seven top 25 teams, including seven of the top 15 teams in the nation- No. 2 Duke, No. 3 Georgia Tech, No. 5 Alabama, No. 9 Texas A&M, No. 10 Southern California, No. 11 Wake Forest and No. 15 Clemson as East Tennessee State, Florida State, New Mexico, Stanford, TCU, UCLA and Virginia round out the 14-team field.
2017-18 All Americans Chandler Phillips and Brandon Smith lead the Aggies' lineup for the 54-hole event, joined by Sam Bennett, Walker Lee and Reesse Ramsey. Additionally, Max Miller competes as an individual. Phillips looks to continue his under par success and top 10 finishes at The Golf Club of Georgia.
In the previous two years, Phillips has carded six consecutive under par rounds for a 12-under par performance and two top 10 finishes at the course. Smith is entering this tournament with a 72.11 stroke average and two top 10 finishes in 2018.
Lee enters the tournament after winning the individual championship at the Maridoe Intercollegiate last time out, picking up his first collegiate win. Bennett is averaging a 72.83 stroke average and has a top five finish on the season. Ramsey is averaging a 73.83 strokes per round. Senior Max Miller will be competing in his first tournament of the 2018 season.
