No. 10 Men's Swimming and Diving Falls To No. 17 Alabama, 162-136

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.- The No. 10 Texas A&M men's swimming and diving team fell 162-136 at No. 17 Alabama in a dual meet Saturday morning at the Alabama Aquatic Center.
"You have to give credit to Alabama, they were ready for us and showed it as came in with a 200 medley relay win against us," head coach Jay Holmes said. "We did fight back pretty well, we had some really hard fought races, it was fun to see guys really get in the mix like Felipe Rizzo in the mile, Benjamin Walker, who fought hard, and Shaine Casas, who continues to be really good."
The Aggies fall to 1-2 in dual meets, and 0-1 against SEC competition. Alabama improves to 2-1 in dual meets and 1-0 against the SEC.
Rizzo made a strong statement, touching the wall first in the 1650-yard freestyle (15:46.07) for his first individual win of the season. Rizzo placed second in the 500-yard freestyle (4:32.01).
Walker won in the 200-yard breaststroke (1:59.35), and the 400-yard IM (3:54.53), in addition to second in the 100 yard backstroke (54.58).
Casas was one of the highlights, taking first in the 200 yard backstroke (1:46.45), and placing second in the 100 yard backstroke (48.79).
Aggie diving captain Sam Thornton came away with the victory in the 1-meter (393.60) and 3-meter (398.33) dives, and has won all four of his competitions this year.
Texas A&M went 1-2 in the 200-yard butterfly, as Mark Theall took first (1:48.40) and Angel Martinez taking second (1:48.67).
The Aggies are back in the pool Friday, November 2 at Texas, with the meet beginning at 6 p.m.
