Oct 29, 2018 | Women's Golf
SAN MARCOS, Texas- Texas A&M's Courtney Dow finished sixth at the Jim West Classic, as the women's golf team wrapped up the fall season on Monday. Dow shot a 1-under 71 in the third round.
Dow finished the tournament at 5-under 211, marking her best 54-hole score since October 2016, when she was beginning an SEC All-Freshman campaign. In Monday's final round, she birdied three holes at Kissing Tree Golf Club, to post her fourth straight under-par round.
"I'm really proud of my play and patience this week," Dow said. "It's nice to see things starting to come together. I scrambled really well today, only hitting nine greens but still held onto an under-par round."
The Aggies finished 11th with a 26-over 890 and a final-round 303 (+15). TCU won the tournament at 11-under, and Friday Kinhult of Florida State shot 14-under to win medalist honors.
Chloe Velasco had her best finish of the season, finishing tied for 30th at 5-over par. Velasco shot a 79 on Monday. Brooke Tyree took 76 strokes to go around the par 72 / 6,185-yard course, finishing tied for 51st at 10-over.
Ava Schwienteck carded a 5-over 77, and finished 69th at 19-over. Amber Park closed out her fall with an 81, and tied for 70th at 20-over par.
The Aggies now break for the remainder of the semester, and return to action on February 18-19 at the Moon Golf Invitational in Melbourne, Fla.
