TULSA, Oklahoma –Texas A&M's Carlos Aguilar, Barnaby Smith and Valentin Vacherot are set to take on the star studded filed at the ITA Men's All-American Championship singles draw in Tulsa, Okla. Thursday. Aguilar will partner with Alex Vedri in the doubles draw.
The Aggies are one of six schools with three players in the main draw and one of five schools with multiple underclassmen. The 2018 tournament marks the first time since 2015 that the Maroon & White have qualified a trio into the main draw.
No. 84 Aguilar faces off against No. 71 Igor Saveljic of NC State at 9:00 a.m. as Smith looks to tackle No. 75 Charlie Broom of Dartmouth at 11:00 a.m. No. 25 Vacherot is set to showdown with No. 23 Aswin Lizen of Virginia at 12:30 p.m. No. 26 Aguilar and Vedri oppose No. 25 Alex Brown and Caleb Chakravarthi of Illinois at 2:00 p.m.
The University of Tulsa is hosting the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championship for the 13th straight season, with matches taking place on the courts of the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. Main draw matches are set to continue through Monday.
In addition to vying for the All-American national title, players are competing to secure a berth into the 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, which takes place November 7-11, in Surprise, Arizona. Singles quarterfinalists, consolation singles champion and finalist, along with doubles semifinalists and consolation doubles champion and finalist advance to the end of fall national championship.
