Texas A&M’s Valentin Vacherot advances to ITA All-American round of 16

TULSA, Oklahoma –Texas A&M's Valentin Vacherot posted a second-straight victory at the ITA Men's All-American Championship in Tulsa, Okla. Friday.

No. 25 Vacherot bested Alexandre Rotsaert of Stanford 6-4, 6-3 to advance to Saturday's Round of 16 against No. 50 Alex Brown of Illinois. Saturday will see the field trimmed from 16 to four as both the third round and quarterfinals will be decided.
 
No. 84 Aguilar dropped a 6-4, 6-2 decision to No. 20 Oliver Crawford and Barnaby Smith fell to No. 122 Clement Marzol of South Alabama to conclude their participation in the Sooner State. Aguilar and Alex Vedri fell 6-4, 6-4 to No. 12 Henrik Korsgaard and Alex Ribeiro of Virginia Tech in the doubles second round.
 
The Aggies were one of six schools with three players in the main draw and one of five schools with multiple underclassmen. The 2018 tournament marks the first time since 2015 that the Maroon & White have qualified a trio into the main draw.
 
The University of Tulsa is hosting the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championship for the 13th straight season, with matches taking place on the courts of the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. Main draw matches are set to continue through Monday.
 
In addition to vying for the All-American national title, players are competing to secure a berth into the 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, which takes place November 7-11, in Surprise, Arizona. Singles quarterfinalists, consolation singles champion and finalist, along with doubles semifinalists and consolation doubles champion and finalist advance to the end of fall national championship.
