No. 6 Texas A&M Women Set to Host Annual Art Adamson Invitational

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – No. 11 Texas A&M Men's Swimming and Diving will host five teams for the annual Art Adamson Invitational, which will be contested Wednesday through Friday at the Student Recreation Natatorium. The three-day meet will feature swimming prelims beginning at 10 a.m. and evening finals at 6 p.m. each day.

The three-day meet will feature swimming prelims beginning at 10 a.m. and evening finals at 6 p.m. each day.
 
The Field:
  • Hawaii (1-0) is coming off a win in the Road Runner Invite at California State Bakersfield.
  • LSU (4-2) is coming off a 187-108 win at home against Tulane.  
  • Boise State (4-1) is coming off a split decision beating University of California at San Diego (220-79) and UC Davis (218-81), while also losing to San Diego State (145-154). 
  • The No. 3 Aggies (3-1) fell last week in a 172-123 loss at Texas. Senior team captain Sydney Pickrem picked up three NCAA B cuts and two race wins. She won the 100 breast (1:00.88) and the 200 IM (1:58.30), and additionally picked up a B cut in the 200 back (1:56.76). Senior Claire Rasmus won the 200 free with a time of 1:46.50, earning an NCAA B cut. She also picked up a B cut in the 100 free (49.89), finishing second. Junior Anna Belousova won the 200 breast with an NCAA B-cut time of 2:13.91, and went on to pick up a B cut in the 100 breast (1:01.08). Also picking up an NCAA B cut was sophomore Taylor Pike (1:58.91) in the 200 fly, where she finished second. The Aggies won the 400 free relay, as Raena Eldridge, Golf Sapianchai, Katie Portz and Rasmus swam to a 3:22.46.

About Art Adamson:
Art Adamson was one of the longest tenured coaches in Texas A&M athletics history, coaching the Aggies more than 35 years from 1934 to 1970. During his time at Texas A&M, Adamson coached All-Americans and Olympians, while leading the Aggies to multiple conference team championships. He was inducted in the Texas A&M Athletics Hall of Fame in 1970, as well as the USA Water Polo Hall of Fame and the Texas Swimming Hall of Fame.
