COLLEGE STATION – Team Gig 'Em defeated Team 12th Man and Team Aggies, 1-0-0, Thursday evening in game three of the Maroon & White Series at Davis Diamond to conclude the 2018 fall season.
Each team won one game of the Maroon & White Series with Team 12th Man and Team Aggies each scoring seven runs throughout the three-games series. Team Aggies ultimately clinched the series via a second tiebreaker, total bases, defeating Team 12th Man, 14-10.
Team Gig 'Em scored the only run of the game in their second offensive appearance when Gabby Moreno reached base on a single to center and touched home on an Ashlynn Walls base hit to left.
Baylee Klingler and Kelbi Fortenberry accounted for Team Aggies' only hits of the evening, recording one a piece.
Team 12th Man had two baserunners in their final at bat with one out as Riley Sartain earned a walk before Abby Smith delivered her second hit of the night. Payton McBride fanned one and produced a groundball to end the offensive threat.
In the circle, McBride pitched 4.0 innings, allowing three hits and one walk while fanning four. Kayla Poynter recorded two strikeouts and only allowed two hits in 4.0 innings. Hannah Mayo allowed just one run, three hits and a walk while fanning one in 3.0 innings of work.
The Aggies open the 2019 season against California Baptist on Feb. 8th in the Aggie Classic at Davis Diamond.
