COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The honors continue to flow in from last Saturday's epic 74-72 seven-overtime win over rival LSU as the game-clinching catch by sophomore Kendrick Rogers netted the U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish Catch of the Week from The Catfish Institute.
In the seventh overtime, Rogers, a 210-pounder from Frankston, Texas, reeled in a keeper from quarterback Kellen Mond for a successful two-point conversion that put an end to the longest and highest-scoring game in Football Bowl Subdivision history and gave the Aggies the victory by a whisker. For the game, Rogers was credited with three catches for 53 yards and two touchdowns, but he also posted receptions on three successful two-point conversions.
The Aggies' victory over the Tigers was the first in the series in more than 20 years and snapped a seven-game losing streak against the Aggies' nearest SEC opponent. The win also improved the team's SEC record to 5-3 to clinch second place in the Western division for the Aggies' highest finish since joining the elite league in 2012.
The Aggies will learn the destination of the program's 10th straight bowl appearance on Sunday, Dec. 2. The Aggies' bowl streak is a school record and the longest current bowl streak of any team in the state of Texas.
