Texas A&M Sweeps Nicholls

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M improved to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in tournament play by defeating Nicholls State University, 25-18, 25-17, 25-18, on the second day of the Texas A&M Invitational at Reed Arena.
Fifteen A&M players saw action, including freshman defensive specialist Skylar Scott and opposite hitter Samantha Sanders who were both making their first appearances of the season.
Sanders tied three other players—junior outside hitter Maddie Douglas, sophomore middle blocker Makena Patterson and sophomore opposite hitter Morgan Davis—for team high honors with seven kills to help lead A&M to a 37-21 advantage in kills.
Sophomore setter Camille Conner had 25 assists for the Aggies and junior setter Haley Slocum also contributed as A&M outhit the Colonels, .234 to .024. Conner also tied freshman defensive specialist Sydney Little for team-high honors in digs with nine. Freshman defensive specialist Allison Fields made her first appearance as libero, taking over for senior Amy Houser in the third set.
Jennifer Olivarez led Nicholls (2-7) in kills with seven kills, and Emily Venable had a match-high 17 digs.
