BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- Two members of the No. 10 Texas A&M men's swimming and diving team earned weekly awards from the Southeastern Conference Tuesday. Senior swimmer Angel Martinez was named SEC Men's Swimmer of the Week and Sam Thornton was named SEC Diver of the Week.
In his final home dual meet in College Station, Martinez won the 100 butterfly (48.18) and 200 butterfly (1:47.85) and was a part of the first-place 200 medley relay.
Thornton, a senior team captain, won the 1-meter springboard vs. LSU with a final score of 407.78. Thornton finished third in the 3-meter with a final score of 437.70 during his final home meet on senior day.
The Aggies are back in action Friday, February 1st as they travel to Dallas to face former Southwest Conference rival SMU at 6 p.m. at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center.
