COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M Aggies welcome the Lamar Cardinals to the friendly confines of Ellis Field on Friday at 7 p.m. as the Maroon & White commence the 2019 spring schedule.
The contest is free for spectators. With Blue Bell Park hosting baseball Friday, there will be a parking fee at adjacent lots.
Texas A&M returns 16 letterwinners from the 2018 campaign, including eight of 11 starters (started at least 50% of A&M's matches). The returnees account for 40 of the Aggies' 49 goals from last season. Texas A&M welcomes back All-American Ally Watt along with fellow All-SEC performer Addie McCain and former SEC All-Freshman honorees Ásdís Halldórsdóttir, McCain, Grace Piper and Watt.
Fans will get a nearly full preview of the 2019 squad as 23 of the 25 players who will be on the fall roster are in spring camp. The only players not in camp are incoming freshman Kenna Caldwell and transfer Taylor Ziemer.
The Cardinals return 15 players from the 2018 campaign, including six starters. Lamar finished with 12-6-2 mark, including a 7-2-2 record in the Southland Conference. Lucy Ashworth and Madison Ledet are the top returning scorers with six goals and six assists apiece in 2018. Goalkeeper Sandra Nygard started 14 matches last season, logging a 9-3-2 record with a 1.06 goals-against average and five shutouts.
Texas A&M wrapped up the 2018 season with a 17-5-1 mark. The Maroon & White earned a bid to their 24th consecutive NCAA Championship and advanced to the Sweet 16 for the 15th time in school annals.
