"Overall I am very proud of the guys and the fight we showed today," said head coach J.T. Higgins. "Walker Lee was fantastic, he played a very clean round of golf without any huge mistakes to post a great score for us. The rest of the team made a lot of unforced errors, we weren't playing disciplined, clean golf. The course is set up great for us. We had a chance to have a spectacular round and we kind of let that slip away, so I know the guys are ready to get back out there tomorrow and show what they can do. We'll aim to not give so many shots away and be a little more careful with those shots on Friday."

Sophomore Walker Lee had six birdies on the day, beginning and ending play a stroke under par, to lead A&M as he sits in third (67) at 5-under. Junior Brandon Smith is currently tied for sixth (69) shooting 3-under on day one. Senior Chandler Phillips shot an even 72 on the day, and is currently tied for 31st.

Play at the Wailua Golf Course will resume on Friday, Feb. 21, beginning at 12 p.m. CT. Follow play here.
