COLLEGE STATION – The No. 22 Texas A&M men's tennis team hosts Arizona State Friday at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center with first serve set for 6 p.m. (CT).

"I know the team is very excited to compete against Arizona State," Texas A&M head coach Steve Denton said. "They are a very talented and a deep team that will really test us tomorrow night. Our team has worked very hard the past couple of weeks and we are ready to go out and compete."

The Maroon & White return to the courts after a couple weeks away from competition dropping tight results at No. 13 Notre Dame and in Dallas against Texas Tech at the beginning of February.

The Aggies boast four student-athletes in this week's Oracle/ITA Division I Men's Top 125 National Singles Rankings. Junior Valentin Vacherot re-entered the rankings at No. 47 this week to lead the charge for the Maroon & White. Joining Vacherot in the Top 125 are No. 66 Barnaby Smith, No. 105 Austin Abbrat and No. 121 Carlos Aguilar. Smith, a sophomore from High Wycombe, Great Britain, is a perfect 4-0 this spring and is riding a five match win streak. Abbrat, a freshman from Spring, Texas, has won a team-best six straight matches. Aguilar, a sophomore from La Paz, Bolivia, has earned a trio of wins on the top two courts this spring.
Texas A&M and Arizona State have met twice on the tennis courts, with each team claiming one victory. The Aggies were triumphant last year in the first meeting since the Sun Devils reinstituted the tennis program in Tempe. A season ago the Aggies secured a 6-1 victory in the desert behind singles wins from Patrick Kypson, Arthur Rinderknech, Vacherot, Smith and Aguilar along with the doubles point.

Friday's match kicks off a three-match home stand that will conclude with a doubleheader on Tuesday against Lamar and Tulsa before kicking off SEC play next week at Auburn and Alabama.
