COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M Aggies travel to Fort Worth to face the TCU Horned Frogs in a spring exhibition match Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Aggies and Horned Frogs have become regular combatants in offseason matches along with playing a pair of NCAA Championship matches in recent years. In 2016, Texas A&M topped TCU, 1-0, in an NCAA first round match in Fort Worth. Last season, the Maroon & White were 2-0 winners in Knoxville, Tenn., to advance to the Sweet 16.
Texas A&M returns 16 letterwinners from the 2018 campaign, including eight of 11 starters (started at least 50% of A&M's matches). The returnees account for 40 of the Aggies' 49 goals from last season. Texas A&M welcomes back All-American Ally Watt along with fellow All-SEC performer Addie McCain and former SEC All-Freshman honorees Ásdís Halldórsdóttir, McCain, Grace Piper and Watt.
Fans will get a nearly full preview of the 2019 squad as 22 of the 25 players who will be on the fall roster are in spring camp. The only players not currently in camp are incoming freshman Kenna Caldwell and transfer Taylor Ziemer, along with rising junior Jimena Lopez who is playing with the Mexico National Team at the Cyprus Women's Cup.
The Aggies opened the spring slate with a 3-1 victory over the Lamar Cardinals in mid-February.
Texas A&M wrapped up the 2018 season with a 17-5-1 mark. The Maroon & White earned a bid to their 24th consecutive NCAA Championship and advanced to the Sweet 16 for the 15th time in school annals.
