COLLEGE STATION — The Texas A&M men's golf team returns to action Sunday afternoon to begin play at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational. The three-day, 15-team tournament will be played at The Floridian National Golf Club (par 71/7,114 yards) in Palm City, Florida. Tee time on Sunday is set for 12:30 p.m. Rounds 2 and 3 on Monday and Tuesday will begin at 7:30 a.m.
"Our scores last week did not indicate it, but we were really close to playing some good golf and the confidence is coming back," said head coach J.T. Higgins. "The guys love The Floridian and the tournament is so good that it makes it easy to get your mind right. It's been a tough stretch but I think we are on the rise."
The Aggies will look to get back on track this week and improve on their third-place finish at the event a year ago. Junior Dan Erickson led A&M last season, tying for third after shooting 7-under. Junior Brandon Smith also shot under par in last year's event, finishing tied for ninth shooting 1-under.
Senior Chandler Phillips, sophomore Walker Lee and freshman Sam Bennett will also be in action for the Aggies this week, while junior Josh Gliege will compete individually.
