AUSTIN, Texas --- The Texas A&M men's swimming and diving team will take 11 competitors to the 2019 NCAA Championships, which ranks as one of the largest national meet rosters in program history. The 2019 NCAA Championships will be contested March 27-30 at the University of Texas.
Six Texas A&M swimmers received invitations to the national meet -- senior Angel Martinez, juniors Adam Koster, Mike Thibert and Benjamin Walker, sophomore Mark Theall and freshman Shaine Casas.
The six swimmers were joined a pair of Aggie divers -- senior Sam Thornton and sophomore Kurtis Mathews.
Additionally, the Aggies, who are qualified in all five relays, will take four relay-only swimmers: seniors Mateo Gonzalez and Steven Richardson, and freshmen Clayton Bobo and Kaloyan Bratanov.
Seeking history:
The Aggies were ranked No. 9 in the final top 25 poll administered by the College Swimming Coaches of America Association (CSCAA) and are within range of the program's first top 10 team finish at the NCAA Championships since 1999. The Aggies' Senior Class of 2019 has seen steady improvement at the NCAA Championships through their careers – from No. 25 as freshmen in 2016, to No. 16 in 2017 to No. 14 in 2018.
