AUSTIN, Texas --- Texas A&M sophomore Mark Theall shattered another school record and garnered his third All-America honor of the meet to highlight the Aggies' third day at the NCAA Championships on Friday at the Jamail Texas Swim Center.

The Aggies garnered points in three events on Friday and stand 14th in the team standings with 71 points. California had the overall lead after three days of action followed by Texas (329), Indiana (277.5), NC State (215), Louisville (149), Florida (136), Alabama (110), Harvard (98), Missouri (88) and Tennessee (82)  to round out the top 10.

"We had several opportunities that got away from us today," Aggie head coach Jay Holmes said. "This is the fastest meet in the world and all your weaknesses and mistakes are magnified. We had some things get away from us in prelims and we can't let that happen tomorrow. Tomorrow is a whole new day and that's what we're telling our guys. We have some great things that should happen tomorrow. They've worked really hard on this. We know what they are capable of. They've already proven they can do it at the SEC meet and now they just have to do it again."

Theall, from Friendswood, Texas, continued his breakout national meet with another school record and honorable mention All-American status in the 200-yard freestyle. Theall, who lowered the 500 free record on Thursday, threw down a 1:32.86 to lower his own school record in the morning prelims and then placed 16th in 1:33.41 in the evening finals. Theall's prelims and finals efforts rank No. 1 and No. 2 fastest in school history.

"What he's been doing here this week is pretty incredible," Holmes said. "It's something you hardly ever see. He's really had some remarkable drops (in time), so it's been really fun for us to be a part of it. He's not afraid of anything and that's a great trait to have."

The Aggies' dive crew of senior Sam Thornton and sophomore Kurtis Mathews chipped in 10 valuable points in the three-meter dive. Thornton placed 10th with a score of 381.20, while Mathews took 14th with 326.80 points. Both Thornton and Mathews earned honorable mention All-America honors.

"They have been huge for us and diving is a big part of our program," Holmes said. "We invest in diving. We look at swimming and diving as one team and we score points together. We count on those guys to come through for us and they've done a tremendous job."

Texas A&M closed out day three with a 14th place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The foursome of freshman Shaine Casas, junior Benjamin Walker, senior Angel Martinez and junior Adam Koster touched in a time of 1:24.88.
