HOUSTON – The Texas A&M volleyball team earned a pair of victories Saturday at the F.A.S.T. Collegiate Invitational at the F.A.S.T. Complex in Houston. The Aggies secured wins against LSU and Tulane and split sets against UTSA.
Â
"This weekend was a solid test for us competing against a variety of opponents," Texas A&M head coach Laura "Bird" Kuhn said. "Our consistency and ability to stay focused will be our challenge. It was good to see the offensive connection carry over to the matches since we have sped up the tempo this offseason. Overall, it was good to try different line ups and have a baseline of where we are as a team. The goal is to see our growth and development as we compete over the course of the next couple of weeks."
Â
A&M started the day with a 2-0 win over LSU, claiming a 25-23 result in the first set against the Tigers before securing the sweep with a 25-21 win in the second set.
Â
Playing just two sets against UTSA, A&M cruised to a 1-0 lead with a 25-18 victory in the opening frame before dropping a 25-23 set to the Roadrunners.
Â
In their final match of the day, the Aggies bounced back from dropping the opening set to Tulane, 25-20, to win the final two sets and earn their second victory of the day. The Maroon & White edged the Green Wave 25-18 in the second set before earning a 15-13 result in the decisive third set.
Â
The Aggies return to action on Friday at Rice, taking on the Owls at 6 p.m. at Tudor Field House. A&M will host a pair of spring matches, including a showdown against Texas on Family Weekend, April 12 at 7 p.m. A&M concludes the spring segment against Baylor on April 17 at 6:30 p.m.
