LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 8 Texas A&M men's tennis team takes on Kentucky Thursday at the Boone Tennis Complex. The Aggies (17-4, 7-1 SEC) and Wildcats (12-10, 4-4) face off at 1 p.m. (CT) in the commonwealth.

"Kentucky is always a very tough team to beat and especially in Lexington," Texas A&M head coach Steve Denton said. "We will need to come out with tremendous energy and mental toughness to come out of this match with a win. It will be very interesting to see how our team responds from our first conference loss in a while."

The Maroon & White return to action after seeing their 14-match win streak snapped at No. 2 Florida on Sunday. The Aggies had won 21 straight regular season SEC matches before the setback in the swamp, the win streak is the longest by any A&M team in the SEC era.

A&M holds a 7-3 mark all-time against Kentucky, including winning each of the last two matchups. Last season, the Maroon & White topped the Wildcats, 4-3, in Lexington behind the doubles point and strong performances from the freshman trio of Patrick Kypson, Carlos Aguilar and Barnaby Smith.

The Aggies have posted a 7-1 record in the league, trailing Florida (9-0) and No. 6 Mississippi State (8-1) in the SEC. A&M looks to secure a top-four seed in the upcoming SEC Tournament for the sixth straight year, the Aggies are poised to beat or equal their pre-season prediction by the league coaches for the seventh straight season.

A&M has won at least 20 matches in each of the last five seasons under Denton's instruction and seven times in his 12-year tenure. Five times during the last decade, Texas A&M has hit the 25-win mark, winning 25 in 2010, 29 in 2011, 25 in 2014, 27 in 2016 and 26 in 2018.

Following the matchup against the Wildcats the Aggies return to College Station for a showdown against Vanderbilt on Saturday at 1 p.m. A&M will kick-off next week with an in-state clash against No. 10 TCU in Fort Worth.
