COLLEGE STATION – The No. 8 Texas A&M men's tennis team hosts Vanderbilt Friday at the Mitchell Tennis Center. The Aggies (18-4, 8-1 SEC) and Commodores (14-7, 4-5) face off at 7 p.m. (CT) Friday instead of the originally scheduled Saturday showdown due to inclement weather in the forecast.

"Vanderbilt is always a very well coached team that competes very hard," Texas A&M head coach Steve Denton said. "With both teams playing on Thursday and then this short turnaround due to weather, this becomes a very tricky match. We are both coming in off of solid wins yesterday so this match comes down to which team executes and handles adversity the best."

The Maroon & White return to action after topping Kentucky Thursday afternoon in Lexington after seeing their 14-match win streak snapped at No. 2 Florida last Sunday. The Aggies had won 21 straight regular season SEC matches before the setback in the swamp, the win streak is the longest by any A&M team in the SEC era.

A&M holds a 7-2 mark all-time against Vanderbilt, including winning each of the last two matchups. Last season, the Maroon & White topped the Commodores, 4-3, in Nashville behind strong performances from Patrick Kypson, Jordi Arconada, Valentin Vacherot and Carlos Aguilar.

The Aggies have posted an 8-1 record in the league, trailing Florida (9-0) and tied with No. 6 Mississippi State (8-1) in the SEC standings. A&M looks to secure a top-four seed in the upcoming SEC Tournament for the sixth straight year, the Aggies are poised to beat or equal their pre-season prediction by the league coaches for the seventh straight season.

A&M has won at least 20 matches in each of the last five seasons under Denton's instruction and seven times in his 12-year tenure. Five times during the last decade, Texas A&M has hit the 25-win mark, winning 25 in 2010, 29 in 2011, 25 in 2014, 27 in 2016 and 26 in 2018.

Following the matchup against the Aggies will kick-off next week with an in-state clash against No. 10 TCU in Fort Worth on Monday.
