Aggies Suffer 4-3 Defeat at No. 12 Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. – Texas A&M Softball fell to No. 12 Georgia, 4-3, Saturday at Jack Turner Stadium.

ATHENS, Ga. – Texas A&M Softball fell to No. 12 Georgia, 4-3, Saturday at Jack Turner Stadium.
 
The Aggies (24-15, 2-9 SEC) got out to an early lead in the first as Baylee Klingler tattooed a 3-1 pitch over the wall in left, her third dinger of the season.
 
Georgia (30-10, 5-6 SEC) took advantage of a pair of miscues by the Aggie defense in the third and scored four unearned runs. The inning was highlighted by a two-RBI double from Justice Milz.
 
In the seventh, Texas A&M mounted a rally as Haley Lee led off the inning and was hit by a pitch. Dani Elder followed with a two-run homer, her second of the season, to cut the lead to one. Georgia went to the bullpen for May Wilson Avant, who shut down the Aggie comeback with a lineout, strikeout and groundout.
 
Aggie starter Kendall Potts was saddled with the loss as the right-hander allowed six hits and two walks with four strikeouts in the complete-game effort.
 
Georgia's Lauren Mathis moved to 7-3 on the season as the northpaw scattered four hits and walked two with a pair of strikeouts.
 
Payton McBride extended her hitting streak to 10 games as the junior roped a single off the top of the wall.

B3| Alyssa DiCarlo led off with a walk and moved to third on an Aggie fielding error. After a flyout to right, Georgia plated its first run on an error before a two-RBI double from Justice Milz. A Jordan Doggett RBI single down the line in left capped off the scoring for the Bulldogs.  UGA 4, A&M 1
 
B3| Haley Lee reached base as the freshman was hit by a pitch to lead off the frame. Dani Elder belted her second homer of the season to cut the lead to one. UGA 4, A&M 3
