Texas A&M Celebrates 2018-19 Season at Annual Banquet

COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M Equestrian team celebrated its 2018-19 season at its annual banquet Saturday at the Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center.

COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M Equestrian team celebrated its 2018-19 season at its annual banquet Saturday at the Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center.
 
Head coach Tana McKay and staff honored those who earned academic and athletic achievements throughout the year, while members of the team voted on the yearly awards.
 
Rhian Murphy was presented with the Aggie Heart Award, which is given to the team member that best exemplifies what it means to be an Aggie, always puts the team's needs ahead of her own, while setting a positive example both in and out of the arena, and strives to push others to be the best.
 
Ashley Sioco was awarded with Most Improved as the senior from San Antonio, Texas, finished the season with an 3-2 record in Horsemanship. Sioco recorded two wins at the SEC Championship and scored a season high of 77 against USC on February 23rd.
 
Rebekah Chenelle was named the Most Outstanding Player (MOP) in Equitation over Fences after finishing the campaign in team-best 11-4 record. Chenelle was awarded All-SEC Equitation over Fences Co-rider of the Year, and given Second Team honors in both Flat and Fences. The Hebron, Conn., native was also awarded the MOP in the Equitation on the Flat. Chenelle compiled a 10-5 record with two MOPs.
 
MOP in Horsemanship was given to Sarah Orsak, who recorded 11 wins, one MOP, and was named to the Ariat NCEA All-American First Team in Horsemanship.
 
Haley Redifer was awarded the Hunter Seat Rookie of the Year after finishing her Fences campaign with an 8-4 record. Redifer tied the team lead with three MOPs and was given All-American Honorable Mention in Equitation over Fences.
 
Courtney Yohey was bestowed with the MOP in Reining following the junior's six-win season. Yohey tallied a win at the SEC Championship and scored a season-high 74.5 against SMU on February 2.
 
The Iron Horse Award was presented to Kalee McCann, which is given to the team member who has shown the most dedication, and the Most Improved in the Weight room was awarded to Taylor Masson.
