WINDSOR, Ontario – Incoming Texas A&M freshman diver Alyssa Clairmont, finished with a Canadian National Championship bronze medal in the 1-meter springboard at the 2019 Speedo Summer Nationals at the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre on Saturday.

Clairmont placed third with a 252.80 final score. The Regina, Saskatchewan native had her best dive when she completed a reverse 1.5 somersault in her second dive of the 1-meter finals. Earlier in the day, Clairmont had a top-five finish in the 1-meter preliminary round, finishing with a 233.95 final score to secure her spot in the finals.

The incoming freshman also competed in the 3-meter finals on Friday. She posted a 269.50 score, placing seventh. Her highest score (63.00) during the 3-meter dive came from a 2.5 somersault.

Clairmont concluded the Canadian National Championships on Sunday in the 10-meter finals, finishing in the top eight with a final score of 270.90.

"Alyssa showed great confidence diving in a senior event with Olympians," Texas A&M diving coach Jay Lerew said. "I'm very happy to see her compete at a high level and final in all three events. It's rare to have a three-event Aggie coming in. We are very excited Alyssa decided to come to Aggieland." Â

Clairmont has been diving for seven years and was named the Regina Diving Club Top Junior Elite Female in 2017. She was a bronze medalist at the Canada 2017 Summer games and will join the Aggies for the 2019-20 season.
