MINNEAPOLIS – The No. 14 Texas A&M men's golf team opens its 2019-20 season at the University of Minnesota's 15th annual Gopher Invitational Sunday through Monday at Windsong Farm Golf Club in Independence, Minn.

The Gopher Invitational field, on the Par 71 / 7,368-yard Wingsong Farm course, features 3 Top 25 teams—No. 7 Oklahoma, No. 14 Texas A&M, and No. 20 Baylor. Arkansas, Iowa, Kent State, Marquette, Michigan State, Minnesota, NC State, Purdue, Utah and West Virginia round out the 13-team field.

"This time of year is always exciting – it's a new season with a new group of guys on a new course for us," Aggie head coach J.T. Higgins said. "Windsong Farm is supposed to be a great test and the field of teams is really strong. We have looked great in preparations and everyone is fired up to tee it up and get started."

Higgins will use a lineup of senior Dan Erickson (Whittier, Calif.), junior Walker Lee (Houston, Texas), sophomore Sam Bennett (Madisonville, Texas), redshirt freshman William Paysse (Belton, Texas) and true freshman Jimmy Lee (Mission, Texas).

The Gopher Invitational is free to attend, and Saturday's practice round beginning at 11 a.m. is also open to the public. The Gopher Invitational will start at 7:15 a.m. Sunday with nine groups going off the front nine, while six groups will tee off on the back nine at 7:30 a.m. The day will feature 36 holes of continuous play. Monday's final round will have the same start times with slots designated based on scores after the first two rounds.
The Aggies are coming off a 2018-19 season that saw them win the NCAA Pullman Regional and go on to reach the quarterfinals of match play at the NCAA Championships.
