Q: What attracted you to Aggie Volleyball?
TV: "Ever since I was a little girl I have always grown up around Aggies and my whole family are Aggies, generation on generation and I knew I wanted to go to Texas A&M. So I started playing volleyball and then that just became a goal of mine - to play volleyball at A&M. I was going to come to A&M volleyball or not. The fact that I can play here has changed my life. The girls I've met are seriously such a blessing and playing in front of the 12th Man is something you can't replicate. I am so blessed to able to do it here, at Texas A&M."
Q: You're always leading the team yells…How did that begin? Did you learn them?
TV: "So last year there was a game that the yell leaders were away at a football game, and we were like 'Oh my gosh what are we going to do?' So, I just started to do the BTHO one and then some of the crowd started doing it. Then there was one time in the same match where I would go out there and do a yell and the whole arena was yelling. It was insane. I didn't really learn them, I kind of just did some motions. The yell leaders would come up after and say 'You know you're doing this wrong, you're supposed to break the pasta, scrape the tire' or whatever. I have gotten better at them, but it was fun."
Q: What is your favorite Aggie yell?
"BTHO, especially when they do it multiple times in a row."
Q: What is your favorite part about being on the volleyball team?
TV: "I think the best part about Aggie Volleyball are the girls I get to play with. Coming to A&M, I didn't know what I was going to do, but when I came here God placed these girls in my life for a reason. We mesh so well on the court and the relationships we make off the court, reflect on the court. I think that's a big part of our success. We can lean on each other whenever we mess up. When we are in the locker room and you are having a bad day, every single person in the locker room will ask you what's wrong, or come up to you and be super comforting. The girls are a huge part"
"There was a coaching change my first year when they first started, but from last year to this year, they are a huge part of our relationships. I am going to give a lot of credit to them. We have this thing called 'family, choice voice' in our locker room. Family, like being together, choices are what you make and being a voice on the team and speaking up. That's a huge part of our connection."
Q: What has it been like from year one to year two for you?
TV: "Year one - freshman year, I was finding my place. The transition was insane. Year two, I think having that experience from the prior year has really helped me personally. I think I've stepped up and become a leader on this team. I think that's what's different from year one to year two. I'm more confident. These girls are so special and we can look to each other and nobody is actually afraid to lead the team."
Q: Outside of volleyball, you're involved in a sorority…Tell me a little about that.
TV: "Rush week was during our two a days, so I was only able to attend three houses total. So, I was like 'God if you want this to be a part of my life, you'll make it happen.' I am a Zeta Tau Alpha and I only went to their house twice, so the fact they kept asking me to come back, I think God really wanted me to do that. I have met awesome girls who have pushed my Christ life closer and I think that replicates when I come to volleyball. I can bring that to the team."
