Texas A&M Men’s Tennis Opens Play at ITA All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. – Texas A&M men's tennis opened play at the 2019 ITA All-American Championships with five wins on day one at the Case Tennis Center on the campus of Tulsa University on Saturday.
 
Pierce Rollins bested Alex Reco of Arkansas, 7-6(2), 6-2, in the first round before dusting Rafael Izquierdo Luque of NC State to become the first Aggie to book their spot in the third round. Rollins will face off against Makey Rakotomalala of Arizona State in Sunday's third round, he will need to win twice to advance to Monday's Qualifying Draw.
 
Austin Abbrat bested Marcello Moreira of Oral Roberts, 6-1, 6-3, and will take on Christopher Edge of Mid Tennessee State in the second round on Sunday. Joining Abbrat in the second round is Guido Marson after he defeated  Vikash Singh of Indiana, 7-5, 5-7, 6-2. Marson will take on Andrew Zhang of Duke on Sunday for a place in the third round.
 
Pranav Kumar defeated Tom Kruse of UMKC, 6-2, 6-2, in the first round before falling 6-4, 6-4 to Sebastian Rodriguez of UTSA in the second round. Freshman Stefan Storch fell, 7-6(3), 6-3, to Ross Walton of Pacific in the opening round.
 
The tournament's singles pre-qualifying draw concludes on Oct. 6 before advancing to qualifying play on Monday, Oct. 7. The main draw opens Oct. 9 and concludes with the singles and doubles finals on Oct. 13.
