TULSA, Okla. – Valentin Vacherot of Texas A&M men's tennis earned a pair of ranked wins in the 2019 ITA Men's Tennis All-American Championship main draw at the Case Tennis Center on the campus of Tulsa University on Friday to advance to the semifinals.
No. 45 Vacherot opened the day with a 6-3, 6-4 win over No. 81 Philip Henning of Georgia before dispatching of his second straight SEC-foe, No. 24 Giovanni Oradini, 6-0, 6-3 to reach the final four. Vacherot is the first Aggie to reach the All-American semifinals under the direction of Head Coach Steve Denton and is set to take on No. 10 Sam Riffice of Florida on Saturday.
No. 16 Habib earned the highest ranked win of his career with a 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over No. 6 Aleks Kovacevic of Illinois in the third round before falling in the quarterfinals to Riffice, 7-5, 6-3. No. 13 Carlos Aguilar dropped a 6-4, 6-2 result to No. 17 Adam Walton of Tennessee in the quarterfinals.
The ITA All-American Championship main draw began on Wednesday and is slated to conclude on Sunday with the singles and doubles finals.
