COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Farmers rode solid pitching and a solo blast by Cam Blake to blank the Plowboys, 1-0, and clinch the Omaha Cup Championship Series Tuesday afternoon on Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
The Farmers threw the combo of Chandler Jozwiak and Jake Nelson to stymie the Plowboys' offense. Jozwiak got the start and win, throwing 4.0 shutout frames, only allowing two hits while fanning five. Nelson earned the save working through the remaining three innings, yielding two hits while recording two strikeouts.
Offensively for the Farmers, Blake and Izzy Lopez were key. Lopez recorded two hits, while Blake registered two hits, one of which was a moonshot over the rightfield wall in the fifth.
Joseph Menefee got the start for the Plowboys, working through 2.2 innings, allowing one hit while fanning three. Bryce Miller was saddled with the loss, giving up the lone run on four hits and one walk, while striking out seven over 3.1 innings.
Mason Corbett, Hunter Coleman and Rody Barker racked up the hits for the Plowboys. Corbett recorded two hits, while Coleman and Barker registered one apiece.
The final game of the Championship Series is scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m.
