COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Three Aggies are set to attend the 2020 U.S. Women's National Team Open Tryouts, hosted by USA Volleyball at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs from Feb. 21-23. Texas A&M will send setter Camille Conner, middle blocker Mallory Talbert and opposite hitter Treyaunna Rush to the event.
Â
Conner, Talbert and Rush join the ranks of 214 student-athletes vying for potential spots on the U.S. Women's National Team and 56 spots on the U.S. Collegiate National Team programs. Ninety-four colleges and universities will be represented at the tryout, with student-athletes of every classification from freshman to senior participating. Three-time Olympic gold medalist and U.S. Olympic Hall of Famer Karch Kiraly will spearhead the tryout process alongside members of the U.S. Women's National Team staff.
Â
As captain of the Aggies, Conner guided A&M to its best home record in the 25-point rally scoring era while tallying 1,168 assists to go along with 192 kills. The Katy, Texas, native brings three years of starting setter experience with her to Colorado Springs. Conner earned the SEC Setter of the Week award for the week of Nov. 25, an All-SEC Team selection, AVCA All-South Region Team and AVCA All-America Honorable Mention honors.Â
Â
In her second season in the Maroon & White, Talbert took on the role of an attacking middle blocker, providing versatility to A&M's front line while holding the defense down at the net. She finished the season with 200 kills and 91 blocks with an average of 0.84 blocks per set.
Â
Rush made her presence known early for the Aggies, as the freshman made a serious impact on both sides of the net. The Texarkana, Texas, native finished the season with 173 kills and placed third on the team in blocks with 82.0. Rush received multiple accolades during the season, including SEC Freshman of the Week on Dec. 12 to go along with an SEC All-Freshman Team selection.
Associate head coach Kolby O'Donnell will also be attending the tryout as an official evaluator. O'Donnell will assist with player evaluation and position ranking as part of the tryout process.
