What are your thoughts on the cancellation of spring schedule?
We are incredibly disappointed that the spring season was canceled for all student-athletes that worked so hard and made so many sacrifices to be the best, individually and as a team. We understand the magnitude of canceling the spring season, but the health and welfare of our nation and the world is certainly more important than a sport season. It certainly puts things in perspective.
What did you tell your team?
We told the team how proud we were of them through 18 games leading into SEC play. They played hard, responded to adversity and played selfless. We told them how bad we felt that our journey ended too soon and that we wouldn't be able to enjoy the highs and grow from adversity together for the next five months. Sport is what we do. It is not who we are as people. We told them, 'Go be with your families and be a great son, grandson, brother and friend to those that matter most.'
What are you doing with your time?
We are staying together as a staff, communicating the best we can. We are working on staying on top of the situation and staying out in front of all the continued unknowns to come. We are staying in touch with our guys as much as possible. We want to be sure our players and their families are doing well. We are also enjoying time with our families as well.
